Here’s some great putting drills that can be completed in the comfort of your home that will help your putting during the long winter months.
Hit the Sweet Spot
Wrap two elastic bands around your putter face one to the left and one to the right of centre. Position them so they are just over the size of a ball apart.
The aim is to avoid hitting either of the bands when you are practicing. If you struggle at first simply widen the gap between the two bands before narrowing them and making the drill tougher.
Keep the Face Square
Place two balls next to each other so they are touching and align your putter so that its centre is in line with where the balls touch.
If your putter is square at impact the balls should leave the face at the same time and roll in a similar manner when hitting putts. If not the two balls will react very differently with one moving quicker than the other.
Pile on the Pressure
Place a £10 note (or any other of your choice) on the floor and take turns with a friend or friends to stop the ball on top of it from about 15 feet. The first to do so takes the money. This is great for improving distance judgment and the ability to perform under pressure.
