A great drill for improving the ability to lag putts with more consistency is to place three tees in the ground – one at 40 ft (13 and a bit paces); one at 50ft (another three and a bit paces); and one at 60ft (another three and a bit).
Starting at the 50ft tee, take three balls and following the above advice, putt until you get all balls are within three feet of the hole.
Then repeat this at the 40ft tee and and again at the the 60ft distance.
Once you have successfully completed each distance, finish the exercise with one ball from the 50ft mark.
To spice things up with the last putt, if you don’t get it inside the 3ft you go back and start the whole process again!
